Pot Stickers

Bittman, p. 104-106

Pot Stickers...
1/4 cup minced scallion
1 cup washed and chopped Napa cabage
1/4 cup diced/sliced carrots
1/4 cup diced water chestnuts
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon dark sesame oil
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Large pinch salt
24 round dumpling skins
Peanut oil and/or neutral oil
Sauce of your liking

It was a lot of fun to attempt this recipe! Because I made them vegetarian, I made a few tweaks here and there to the ingredients. Overall, I think they turned out pretty well and tasted great; however, it will take some experimentation to get a perfectly crispy end result- mine turned out a little too soft.

I had some left over dumpling skins and a tub of cream cheese in the refrigerator, so I decided to make some cream cheese puffs with what was left over! There is a picture at the end with both the pot stickers and the cream cheese puffs all finished.

Overall, they were both very tasty!
